On the school  provided laptops, the F8 key can be used to mute your microphone.  The button is across the top of the keyboard, the thin buttons across the top.

You can use this button to quickly and easily mute and unmute yourself.  When you are muted, the key will have a small light turned on.

Along the top row, there are also 2 other quick toggle buttons:   
  * The F5 key to [[mute_audio]] 
  * The F11 key to toggle [[airplane_mode]].
